Job summary

Amentum Advanced Solutions in Tullahoma, TN offers a Mechanical Engineering internship for summer 2027. The scholar will work in the Process Mechanical and/or Machine Design groups, gaining hands-on design experience for automotive and aerospace projects.

The internship runs about 10 weeks, 40 hours per week, with mentoring, team collaboration, and an end-of-assignment presentation. Housing is not provided by the company.

Qualifications

• Degree programs: BSME or MSME.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Rising Sophomore or above.
• Mechanical and/or Aerospace engineering focus.
• Coursework in Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials.
• Active US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine engineering tasks under supervision to gain experience.
• Handle portions of larger tasks under supervision.
• Prepare computations, specs and reports of limited scope.
• Design and analyze mechanical systems to meet requirements.
• Coordinate drafters for 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Review submittals and assist during site work.
• Interface with clients and other disciplines as needed.
• Assist with project planning, budgeting and cost estimating.
• Balance mechanical process and machine design activities.
