Job summary

ASM in Phoenix leads a team of mechanical engineers to design, analyze, and continuously improve semiconductor equipment. You will own the local mechanical design roadmap, addressing heat transfer, motion, and fluid dynamics while driving reliability and yield for customers.

The role emphasizes people management, collaboration with robotics and other subsystems, and presenting technical status and risk mitigation in customer reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of experience; or Master's with 8+ years; or PhD with 4+ years.
• 2-3 years of people management experience.
• Proven experience in equipment or complex machinery design, ideally in semiconductor capital equipment.
• Experience leading small engineering teams and setting direction.
• Strong foundation in heat transfer, structural mechanics (including motion, vibration, and cantilever loads), and fluid/thermal dynamics.
• Experience with RCCA and data-driven problem solving.
• Ability to collaborate across process, integration, software, controls, manufacturing, and service.
• Fluent English communication, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of mechanical engineers and set clear goals.
• Own the mechanical design roadmap for the local platform from concept to validation.
• Design and analyze subsystems: heat transfer, motion, vibration, cantilever loads, fluid/thermal dynamics.
• Interface with robotics, vacuum, and other subsystems to deliver integrated solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement and troubleshoot cross-module yield excursions.
• Lead RCCA investigations and ensure corrective actions are closed region-wide.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Audit measurement systems and maintain data quality.
• Present status and mitigation plans in customer reviews.
