Job summary

SSOE Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for semiconductor tool installations, including utility matrices, POU connections, and UPW infrastructure. You will mentor engineers, drive design reviews, and ensure ASHRAE, NFPA, SEMI compliance from concept through construction.

The role demands hands-on coordination with electrical, process, and controls teams onsite, no remote work, and a focus on reliability, fab uptime, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering.
• Active PE license in Arizona or eligibility to obtain by reciprocity within six months of hire.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical systems design for semiconductor/manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for mechanical design.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA 90A, IMC/IBC, and applicable state/local codes.
• Proven ability to lead multi-discipline coordination efforts and communicate complex technical information clearly to clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and system design for tool install projects.
• Own end-to-end mechanical design of semiconductor tool installations, including utility matrices and POU connections.
• Lead the design and specifications of HVAC systems (AHUs, VAV, chillers, exhaust) for fab facilities.
• Engineer UPW infrastructure and process cooling/heating systems for fab operations.
• Support construction activities: RFI responses, submittals, site inspections, and start-up oversight.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews, HAZOP studies, and constructability reviews.
