SmithGroup's Washington, DC office is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to support HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design on integrated project teams. You will model in Revit, perform heating and cooling load calculations, and participate in design reviews and site visits.
The ideal candidate has completed at least sophomore year or graduate status in mechanical or architectural engineering, with some experience in Revit, Trane Trace or IESVE and MS Office.

Interns will participate in hands-on project work, site visits as possible, \"Lunch & Learn\" sessions with office leadership, office activities, and mentor pairing.
SmithGroup promotes a healthy work/life balance for our staff, as well as a hybrid work model of at least three days working within our vibrant office culture and the option to work remotely the rest of the week. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $23.56 to $26.00 per hour, at the time of posting. You are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week.
