Job summary

Charter Steel is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a year-round, on-site program in Saukville, WI. You will work part-time during the academic year and full-time in the summer, starting May 2027, gaining hands-on experience across engineering, maintenance, quality, and production.

The role emphasizes process improvements, safety enhancements, and equipment upgrades with mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and update engineering drawings to support equipment and process needs.
• Support plant-wide safety and ergonomic improvement projects.
• Lead process improvement projects from concept through implementation and completion.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and other internal teams to execute projects.
• Work with contractors and suppliers to coordinate project needs and solutions.
• Gain hands-on exposure to mechanical engineering in a manufacturing environment.
