Job summary

Charter Steel in Saukville, Wisconsin, offers a year-round Mechanical Engineering Internship for students in a four-year degree program. You’ll gain hands-on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office while supporting maintenance and engineering projects, with 15–20 hours/week in the school year and 40 hours/week in summer.

You’ll partner with the Maintenance Mechanical Engineer on design and upgrades, participate in continuous improvement, and learn to integrate safety and environmental

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Cumulative GPA 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Maintenance Mechanical Engineer on hands-on projects in the processing plant.
• Support machine design and equipment upgrades, including part design and layout improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance operations, safety, and efficiency.
• Incorporate safety and environmental considerations into designs.
• Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams from design to implementation.
