Job summary

Charter Steel invites motivated students to join our Maintenance Mechanical Engineering Internship in Saukville, Wisconsin. You will gain hands-on experience with CAD tools and support real-world maintenance and engineering projects within a collaborative team.

You will work full-time during the summer, partnering with the Maintenance Mechanical Engineer on project design, equipment upgrades, and plant layout improvements.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support machine design and equipment upgrades, including part design and plant layout improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on operations, safety, and efficiency.
• Incorporate safety and environmental considerations into equipment and process designs.
• Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams to support projects from design through implementation.
