Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering tasks, design updates, and collaboration with lead engineers across Aviation & Federal market. This role provides exposure to facility design, runways, hangars, and related systems.

The internship emphasizes strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills, with opportunities to learn from engineers on real projects and contribute to ongoing client work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education and/or technical program related to the work.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or volunteer activities.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard engineering techniques to design and update engineering systems.
• Assist lead engineers with project duties and coordination.
• Support program management and facility design activities within the Aviation & Federal market.
• Communicate findings clearly and contribute to team problem solving.
