Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, build, and test of UUV-related systems for Navy customers. The role involves creating 3D models, detailed drawings, and performing structural and thermal analyses using Solidworks, ANSYS, and COMSOL.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and work with manufacturing and test teams to validate prototypes in lab and sea environments. Clear communication and problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in mechanical engineering with related experience as stated.
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance or higher.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with Solidworks and PDM Pro.
• Experience performing analysis with ANSYS/COMSOL and ASME GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical systems for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs).
• Mentor junior engineers and provide leadership as needed.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings in Solidworks and ASME Y14.100.
• Maintain models and drawings in Solidworks PDM Pro.
• Perform structural, thermal, and hydrodynamic analysis using hand methods and software.
