Job summary

JGMS Government Services is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead test programs for repair technology development, in both laboratory settings and under commercial subcontracts. The position is on-site for a three-year contract, offering opportunities to expand technical skills across established and novel repair technologies.

Candidates should have a BS in mechanical engineering (5+ years) or MS (2+ years), strong skills in specifications, drawings, CAD, and laboratory operations, and be

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience OR MS in mechanical engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards.
• Ability to plan and execute test programs, design experiments, analyze experimental results, and assist with the preparation of technical reports.
• Digital design/CAD skills.
• Lead/execute laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and produce technical designs, instructions, and procedures.
• Contribute to development of novel repair techniques by drafting, placing, following, and reporting subcontracted repair method development/demonstration contracts.
• Travel to vendors and shipyards to support project planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment.
• Repair efforts including epoxy/composite technologies, mechanical/machining processes, and arc welding technologies.
