Job summary

JGMS Government Services LLC (JGMS-GS) is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead repair technology development through laboratory and subcontracted programs. The role is on-site for a three-year contract, with opportunities to expand technical skills across repair technologies.

Candidates should have a BS (or MS) in mechanical engineering and 5+ years (2+ years for MS) of relevant experience, plus CAD proficiency and laboratory leadership. DOE L or DoD TS clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with BS degree; or 2 years with MS.
  • Ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards.
  • Plan and execute test programs, design experiments, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.
  • Digital design/CAD skills and laboratory operations leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive and produce technical designs, instructions, and procedures.
  • Draft, place, follow, and report subcontracted repair method development/demonstration contracts.
  • Travel to vendors and shipyards to support planning, testing, and deployment.
  • Lead repair efforts including epoxy/composite technologies, machining, and arc welding.

Position Summary

JGMS Government Services is looking to hire a mechanical engineer to support repair technology development efforts by leading test programs both within a laboratory setting and via commercial subcontracts. This challenging and rewarding position offers opportunities to continue expanding technical skills through assignments involving both established and novel repair technologies. This opportunity will be on-site for a three-year contract duration.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Conceive and produce technical designs, instructions, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of novel repair techniques by drafting, placing, following, and reporting subcontracted repair method development/demonstration contracts.
  • Some travel to vendors and shipyards to support project planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment.
  • Repair efforts including epoxy/composite technologies, mechanical/machining processes, and arc welding technologies.
Requirements
  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or MS degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Have the ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards.
  • Have the ability to plan and execute test programs, design experiments, analyze experimental results, and assist with the preparation of technical reports.
  • Have digital design/CAD skills.
  • Lead/execute laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.
Desired Qualifications
  • A knowledge of materials engineering and a background in industrial operations.
  • The ability to help develop, test, evaluate, and eventually qualify repair procedures either in the laboratory or via vendors and shipyards.
  • Excellent individual initiative and creativity will enhance the successful candidate's value in this position.
Security Clearance

Candidates must possess a DOE L security clearance or equivalent DoD Top Secret security clearance.
