Job summary

Lightera is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support Maintenance and Process Engineering by assisting technicians on projects and continuous improvement initiatives. You will apply standard engineering principles to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency, and product quality.

Under supervision, you will develop installation drawings, implement equipment modifications, and coordinate with contractors to achieve manufacturing performance goals within a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• S.M.E or SME preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a mechanical engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with machine and process improvements.
• Support relocation and installation of new equipment by developing installation drawings and guidance to maintenance teams and contractors.
• Conduct meetings with contractors to review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Obtain project quotations and serve as the primary contact for contractors.
• Order parts and supplies necessary to complete projects.
• Create and maintain CAD drawings and related documentation, including work orders and contractor forms.
• Coordinate project requirements with Engineering, Operations, and external contractors.
• Participate in planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement meetings.
• Maintain working knowledge of standard factory equipment, manufacturing processes, and machine shop operating conditions.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
