Job summary

Maverick Power is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design medium voltage switchgear enclosures, structures, and assemblies from concept to production release. You will work with electrical engineering, project management, and production to ensure customer specifications and manufacturability are met.

Responsibilities include 3D modeling in SolidWorks, creating drawings and BOMs, performing structural and thermal analyses, and ensuring design compliance with UL/NEMA/ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design engineering experience in manufacturing or product development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, weldments).
• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and design for manufacturability.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, including GD&T, welding symbols, tolerances, and manufacturing documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent engineering judgment on matters of design significance.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of components and assemblies from concept through production release.
• Perform structural, thermal/ventilation, and tolerance analysis to validate designs.
• Interpret customer submittals, specs, and standards (UL, NEMA, ANSI/IEEE) for project design.
• Develop and release 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks and set design standards.
• Evaluate design issues and implement root-cause corrective actions.
• Review and approve supplier CAD data and outsourced components for integration.
• Mentor and direct mechanical designers on project work and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and manufacturability.
