Job summary

Planate Management Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer for the Miami VA Medical Center project. This key role provides mechanical engineering and construction management support through all project phases, ensuring design intent, standards compliance, and budget adherence.

The position is contingent on contract award, with a one-year term and three optional years. The candidate should have Florida-licensed PE credentials and strong communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or 10 years of directly related experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
