Job summary

Planate Management Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering and construction management support for chiller and water systems at the Miami VA Medical Center. You will ensure conformance to design intent, standards, and project objectives through all phases of the project.

The position is contingent on award with a one-year base period and up to three option years. Requires Florida PE license, 7+ years PM experience, and knowledge of VA/FAR/OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
