Job summary

Planate Management Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering and construction management support for chiller plant systems and related water systems at the Miami VA Medical Center. The role requires ensuring design intent, codes, and project objectives are met across all phases.

This position is contingent on contract award; the duration is one year with three option years, and it is a full-time on-site role based in Florida, with opportunities to support US federal programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 10 years of directly related experience in lieu of degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• 7+ years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
