Job summary

Planate Management Group in Florida is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Chiller Plant System and Chilled/Condenser Water repair efforts at the Miami VA Medical Center. You will ensure design intent, codes, and project objectives are met across all phases.

The role is contingent on contract award, lasting one year with three option years. Qualifications include a Florida PE license and 7+ years in construction/project management, with preference for healthcare or federal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
