Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead the building mechanical design scope across schematic design to contract documents. You will coordinate the design team, interface with code officials, and ensure schedule alignment.

The role requires a PE license, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and experience with commercial/institutional facilities. Proficiency in REVIT, IESVE, and BlueBeam is preferred; HDR supports employee ownership and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for commercial or institutional buildings.
• MS Office and Trane TRACE or similar software experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the mechanical design team's work through schematic design and contract document phase.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
• Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Write and edit mechanical specifications and select equipment and devices.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines for addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders; incorporate changes into documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• QA/QC on the work of other mechanical team members.
• Lead mechanical and plumbing design (drawings and specs) of projects.
• Perform load and plumbing calculations to size equipment, piping, ductwork.
