Job summary

RTX is offering an on-site engineering internship in McKinney, TX for Mechanical/Aerospace majors. You will work with the Airborne Sensor RF Design Mechanical Engineering team on the full design process from concept to drawings and builds.

You will collaborate with product engineers from multiple disciplines, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to solving unique problems in a fast-paced environment during Summer 2027.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Solve problems, test, and/or troubleshoot hardware.
  • Recommend design modifications.
  • Create and/or modify drawings.
  • Analyze and evaluate various products to determine their efficiency and/or cost-effectiveness.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering student to join our Airborne Sensor RF Design Mechanical Engineering team in McKinney, Texas.

As an Engineering intern the responsibilities may include any aspects of the mechanical design process from concept generation to model / drawing completion to supporting product builds and test. You will work closely with product engineers from multiple disciplines to ensure support for program and factory requirements. Our multi-disciplined team consists of high-engaged members with a variety of experience. We offer growth opportunities, and recognizing contributions. This position is an Onsite role, where you will be working primarily in McKinney, Texas during Summer 2027.

You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

We Prefer

  • Experience utilizing CREO
  • Completion of 1 internship and/or multi-month technical project in a related field
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and/or tolerance analysis
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
Onsite

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

Salary

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
