Job summary

RTX’s internship at Pratt & Whitney in Tucson, AZ offers hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics, performing circuit-level analysis, and supporting subassembly test and failure investigations in a lab setting. You will document procedures and collaborate with diverse teams while developing essential engineering skills for complex aerospace systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field and actively enrolled through the internship session.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain U.S. government security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

What You Will Do:
  • Job responsibilities of this role vary but include activities such as troubleshooting electronics in a lab or production environment, performing system and circuit level analysis, subsystem integration and test, supporting failure investigations, maintaining and creating documentation, and interacting with multi-discipline groups including suppliers.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and process issues down to CCA and component levels.
  • Failure analysis / root cause determination and corrective action implementation.
  • Performing analog and digital circuit analysis and characterizing and modeling electrical signals of electronics subsystems in simulation.
  • Identifying and instantiating circuit card and subassembly design updates.
  • Conducting integration & test at the subassembly level.
  • Develop interconnect models between various subsystems.
  • Generate test procedures/plans and document test results.
  • Generate and present task results to small technical teams.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at a minimum, entering their Sophomore by the start of summer 2027.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with test equipment, test automation scripting, test conduction, sensor control.
  • Experience with oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter.
  • Basic lab or other experience with one or more of the following: RF, analog, digital, mixed signal, circuit design or analysis
  • Experience with writing and/or executing test procedures.
  • Integration and test of electrical hardware/subsystems.

Salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
