Job summary

FastTek Global in Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead and support design, construction, and commissioning of gas compression facilities.

You will coordinate with project managers, external engineers, and contractors to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget, traveling 3–5 days per week.

ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience required; procurement, field engineering, and API/ASME knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applied ABET engineering experience.
• Experience in procurement of engineered material, equipment and professional services.
• Coordinating/developing contract documents (RFPs), engineering drawings/technical specifications for consulting and construction.

Summary:

The Owner's Engineer is a mechanical project engineering role within our Gas Compression Project Engineering team. This role supports modifications to existing facilities and new construction projects at our natural gas compressor stations. Project Engineers work in team settings in the role of lead and/or support engineer. Project Engineering works closely with project managers, engineers of other disciplines, system engineers, environmental, operations and maintenance personnel, outage managers, construction managers, external engineers of record (Architectural & Engineering firms), construction contractors, and vendor representatives to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget.

The Owner's Engineer will play a crucial role in representing the interests of us throughout the lifecycle of projects. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects of engineering on projects to ensure they meet the owner's objectives in terms of safety, regulatory compliance, scope, quality, cost-effectiveness, and schedule adherence. This role requires a strong understanding of natural gas and balance of plant systems, application of engineering principles, project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

The Owner's Engineer ensures that project work is coordinated between external engineers of record, material and equipment suppliers, and construction contractors to meet project requirements. This includes development and enforcement of engineering, equipment, and construction specifications. The Owner's Engineer will perform moderately complex assignments requiring application of standard techniques, theory, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. The candidate must independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering theory, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

The Owner's Engineer will be required to work efficiently and effectively on project teams supporting several project managers. The Owner's Engineer will be required to travel to the compressor stations on average 3 days per week and as much as 5 days per week.

Skills:

• Experience in the design, construction, or operation of natural gas compressor station equipment
• Experience in reviewing designs to assure compliance with engineering design, applicable codes, constructability, and industry standards.

Knowledge of:

• CFR 49 Part 192 Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline (Minimum Federal Safety Standards), and/or Michigan Gas Safety Standards Guide (MGSS), Knowledge of ASME Codes & Standards e.g., ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ASME B16.5/16.47, ASME BPVC, etc.
• API Specifications & Standards e.g., API 5L, API 6D, API 1104, etc.

Experience in:

• procurement of engineered material, equipment and professional services.
• coordinating/developing contract documents (RFPs), engineering drawings/technical specifications for both consulting and construction

Education: Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)
• 5+ years of applied ABET engineering experience.
