Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to collaborate with hardware design, ECAD, test assurance, and lead engineers. You will drive features from design feasibility to manufacturing, owning mechanical design, BOM management, and DFM optimizations.

You will perform tolerance stack-up analyses, reliability testing, and work with thermal engineers to refine heat sink and enclosure designs while ensuring cost-effective manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 0 years of work experience or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience.
• Qualifying education and work experience should be in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience executing mechanical designs, simple tolerance stack-up analyses, and feasibility testing for hardware products.
• Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication, assembly, and failure/reliability testing processes.
• Basic understanding of thermal and electrical engineering principles as applied to mechanical packaging and board layout.
• Strong collaborative skills to work across cross-functional teams (Hardware, ECAD, Test Assurance) and manage single-product BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive features from design feasibility through manufacturing.
• Own mechanical design, tolerance stack-up analyses, and BOM management.
• Perform DFM optimizations with thermal engineers and conduct failure/reliability testing.
• Help define efficient manufacturing processes that optimize product design and cost.
