Job summary

Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer II for an onsite role. The position involves mechanical design, development, and documentation of defense system components, with collaboration across disciplines.

Requirements include a STEM degree and at least 2 years of experience, GD&T, CAD modeling, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience selecting materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility and corrosion mitigation.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, metal fabrication, and assembly techniques.
• Experience with CAD modeling and engineering documentation practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and document components and end items per system requirements.
• Solve technical issues with a design team and drive results.
• Develop designs from concept to data package and support builds and production.
• Collaborate across structural, thermal and electrical disciplines to solve challenges.
• Attend design reviews, close action items, and run trade studies.
• Occasional CONUS travel to sites; international travel optional.
