Job summary

Georgia State University’s Engineering & Utilities Department on the Atlanta campus is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Facilities Management Services team. The role centers on mechanical systems, HVAC, and energy management to support campus operations.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, overseeing utilities, monitoring HVAC controls, and coordinating with maintenance and project managers to improve efficiency and reliability across the university facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology and four years of related experience.
• Knowledge of construction industry standards and codes for construction and good engineering practice.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee campus utility consumption and maintain energy intensity and water usage database.
• Monitor campus HVAC control systems' operational effectiveness and advise maintenance to optimize building systems.
• Provide engineering solutions for maintenance teams and assist zone teams with writing specifications and scopes of work.
• Oversee maintenance department service contracts and maintain the Energy Star database.
