Textron Systems in Slidell, LA is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer I to contribute to real projects and learn from experienced engineers. You’ll engage in hands-on design, cross‑functional collaboration, and mentorship from day one.

The role emphasizes NX/SolidWorks modeling, ASME‑compliant drawings, and PLM‑based design capture. A bachelor’s or master’s in Mechanical Engineering is expected, with internship preferred; standard 9/80 schedule applies, on-site only.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Technical internship experience preferred.
• Ability to work a 9/80 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Providing creative solutions to mechanical engineering design challenges.
• Collaborating with peer engineers across disciplines.
• Solid modeling via NX and SolidWorks.
• Design capture and configuration management via PLM systems.
• Creating engineering drawings per ASME standards.
• Designs leveraging common fabrication and assembly processes with internal machine shops.
• Developing structural designs using theory and analysis tools.
• Analysis and design of tracked vehicles of varying weights.
• Engine/generator integration into hybrid electric platforms.
• Operating measurement tools, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems.
• Documenting and presenting requirements, designs and analyses.
