Textron Systems invites applications for a 2027 Mechanical Engineer I (Crewed Land) position in Slidell, LA. This entry-level role emphasizes hands-on project work, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver design solutions and manufacturing drawings.

You will model with NX and SolidWorks, capture configurations in PLM, and work with local machine shops to produce parts on site, while growing skills in hybrid platform integration and measurement data analysis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Technical internship experience preferred.
• Able to work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

• Provide creative solutions to mechanical engineering design challenges.
• Collaborate with peer engineers across disciplines.
• Model parts and assemblies using NX and SolidWorks.
• Capture designs and manage configurations in PLM systems.
• Create professional engineering drawings per ASME standards for manufacturing.
• Work with internal machine shops to manufacture parts on site.
• Design structural components using theory and analysis tools.
• Analyze and assist in the design of tracked vehicle weight classes.
• Assist with engine and generator integration into hybrid platforms.
• Operate measurement tools, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems.
• Document and present derived requirements, designs, and results.
