Job summary

CDM Smith in Nashville seeks a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our office as an early career engineer working on building and infrastructure projects. Under supervision you will contribute to planning, design and delivery of mechanical solutions including HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems.

You will review designs for code compliance, follow firm policies, and perform site studies to align with location requirements. Travel up to 10% is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 0 years of experience.
• Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 10% or less travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.
