Job summary

CDM Smith in Boston is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our team for an early career opportunity. You will contribute to planning, design and delivery of building and infrastructure solutions with guidance from senior engineers.

As part of the Mechanical Engineering team, you will work on HVAC, plumbing and sustainability projects, participate in site reviews, and help create technical documentation and conference materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0 years' experience; travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.
