Job summary

Actalent seeks a design-focused mechanical engineer in Chattanooga, TN to work on heavy equipment components. You will design, model, prototype, and test stringing sheaves and related parts, applying engineering fundamentals and finite element analysis.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations and manufacturing to resolve design and production challenges and maintain thorough technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
• At least three years applying mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• At least one year of finite element analysis experience.
• Experience with machine elements, heavy equipment, and design for manufacturability.
• Familiarity with applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, prototype, and test heavy-equipment components.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and manufacturing to resolve design and production challenges.
• Maintain technical documentation and improve manufacturability and product reliability.
