Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our onsite team. You will design, analyze, build and operate laser-driven mechanical systems central to our inertial fusion energy technology, contributing across prototypes to demonstration of a power-producing reactor.

You will create 3D models, drawings, and interface control documents; work with cross-functional teams; support procurement; and help drive tests, documentation, and design reviews while maintaining schedule

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Nuclear, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years in mechanical engineering, with focus on industrial equipment design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX preferred).
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Experience bringing design projects to finish line, built, and qualified.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, P&ID’s and interface control documents.
• Design structures and pressure vessels, perform proof-tests to code standards.
• Communicate and document design with mechanical, systems, laser and optical engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Support procurement of hardware for prototype laser amplifiers and optical conditioning equipment.
• Select sensors and instruments, collaborate with controls for integration.
• Oversee assembly by interdisciplinary technicians and support ongoing operation.
