Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Salt Lake City to lead the mechanical design team through schematic design and contract documents. You will coordinate reviews with code agencies, manage workloads, and work closely with Project Managers and other disciplines to deliver quality facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, a PE license, and relevant experience in commercial or institutional building systems. Strong collaboration and design skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the position location is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the mechanical design team through schematic design development and contract document phase.
• Establish meetings and participate in code compliance reviews with governing agencies.
• Coordinate workload to ensure documents are completed on schedule.
• Conduct site work sessions with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Write and edit mechanical specifications and select equipment and devices.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs and changes; incorporate changes into documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Perform QA/QC on the work of junior mechanical staff.
