Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, engineer, and support baggage handling equipment including conveyors, sortation lines, carousels, and related machinery.

You will analyze feasibility, performance, and cost impacts of new concepts, collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and operations to ensure smooth integration with airport systems, and perform calculations to validate reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience in mechanical system design, baggage handling, material handling, or industrial automation.
• Proficiency with CAD and design tools (Revit, AutoCAD) and mechanical analysis or simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing methods, and component selection.
• Working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, ISO codes in transportation or aviation environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and support mechanical systems for baggage handling equipment (conveyors, sortation lines, carousels).
• Analyze design feasibility, performance, and cost impacts for new concepts and modifications.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and operations to ensure integration with airport systems.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate performance, reliability, and safety.
• Develop and maintain drawings, specifications, and installation/maintenance guidelines.
• Evaluate existing equipment and recommend design improvements or optimizations.
• Assist with selection and qualification of components and vendors while ensuring compliance with standards.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues in active baggage handling systems and support root-cause analysis.
