Job summary

Crystal Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Advanced Program Pursuits team by designing and validating mechanical components and assemblies, including sheet-metal and machined parts. The role integrates mechanical and electrical elements into complete systems while collaborating with Systems, Electrical, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling techniques.
  • Ability to translate high-level or evolving customer requirements into practical mechanical concepts and designs.
  • Familiar with Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
  • Familiar with Computer Numerical Control design requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and systems integration.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical component industry standards.
  • Basic understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Mechanical Engineering theory.
  • Works well both independently and in a team environment and is willing to change priorities as needed.
  • Multitasking across multiple software platforms.
  • Use hand tools (caliper, micrometer, feeler gauge, etc.).
  • Inspect and troubleshoot computer related hardware components at an assembly level.
  • Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Ansys).
  • Create, read, and compare technical data sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer requirements, concepts, and objectives into viable mechanical designs and solutions.
  • Develop mechanical concepts, models, drawings, and assemblies for new opportunities including sheet-metal parts.
  • Assist in researching, designing, evaluating, and selecting mechanical systems and materials.
  • Maintain understanding of metal parts machining, fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Review drawings to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance for building and testing new products and systems.
  • Support rapid concept development and prototyping to evaluate feasibility.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, electrical engineering, sales, and manufacturing.
