Job description

  • Form’s Advanced Product Development team is responsible for architecting and designing the next generation of our iron-air battery system — the cell, module, pack, and the support systems that keep them running reliably for decades in the field
  • We work ahead of our production programs, translating breakthrough electrochemistry and system requirements into mechanical designs that can scale to high-volume manufacturing
  • We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, build and test hardware for our next generation of iron-air batteries. As part of our Advanced Product Development team, you will have a hands‑on role in designing next‑generation system‑level designs

Your work will rely on a broad range of engineering disciplines, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics. You will integrate tightly with a team of experienced engineers to write and execute verification test plans and iterate on designs with data‑driven analysis
  • You’ll be a part of a large cross‑functional team bringing Energy Storage Systems from concept to release to mass manufacturing. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver our sustainable multi‑day energy storage solution to the grid!
  • Lead hands‑on prototyping and verification testing of subsystem designs
  • Drive instrumentation, data collection and data analysis for system‑level validation builds
  • Own design of components and assemblies for volume manufacturing
  • Run and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction
  • Execute ambitious product development processes on tight timelines
Benefits

  • 100% employer-sponsored coverage life insurance, and short and long‑term disability policies
  • Experience with prototyping techniques and working in a lab environment
  • Exposure to writing, executing and analyzing test plans to make data‑driven decisions
  • Experienced using CAD to design parts and assemblies
  • Strong heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics fundamentals
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor’s with 1+ years experience in mechanical design, or Master’s with research or professional engineering experience
