Form Energy invites engineers to join its Advanced Product Development team in Weirton, WV, to design and test the next generation of iron‑air battery systems. You will develop hardware for high‑volume production and work across disciplines to translate electrochemistry breakthroughs into scalable products.

We seek a Mechanical Engineer II with CAD expertise, lab experience, and a strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required; 1+ years in mechanical design or Master's with relevant experience preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and drafting standards; strong data-driven decision making.
• Experience writing and executing test plans; able to work in a lab environment.

Role Description

Form's Advanced Product Development team is responsible for architecting and designing the next generation of our iron‑air battery system - the cell, module, pack, and the support systems that keep them running reliably for decades in the field. We work ahead of our production programs, translating breakthrough electrochemistry and system requirements into mechanical designs that can scale to high‑volume manufacturing.

We're hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, build and test hardware for our next generation of iron‑air batteries. As part of our Advanced Product Development team, you will have a hands‑on role in designing next‑generation system‑level designs. You will also have the opportunity to design parts for volume manufacturing. Your work will rely on a broad range of engineering disciplines, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics. You will integrate tightly with a team of experienced engineers to write and execute verification test plans and iterate on designs with data‑driven analysis. You’ll be a part of a large cross‑functional team bringing Energy Storage Systems from concept to release to mass manufacturing. • Experience with prototyping techniques and working in a lab environment.
• Strong heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics fundamentals.

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV - an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square‑foot facility is our hub for high‑volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing.
