Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1+ years mechanical design experience, or Master's with related experience.
  • Experience using CAD to design parts and assemblies.
  • Experience writing, executing, and analyzing test plans to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with prototyping techniques and lab work.
  • Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on prototyping and verification testing of subsystem designs.
  • Drive instrumentation, data collection and analysis for system-level validation builds.
  • Own design of components and assemblies for volume manufacturing.

Role Description

Form's Advanced Product Development team is responsible for architecting and designing the next generation of our iron-air battery system — the cell, module, pack, and the support systems that keep them running reliably for decades in the field. We work ahead of our production programs, translating breakthrough electrochemistry and system requirements into mechanical designs that can scale to high-volume manufacturing. We're hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, build and test hardware for our next generation of iron-air batteries. As part of our Advanced Product Development team, you will have a hands-on role in designing next-generation system-level designs. You will also have the opportunity to design parts for volume manufacturing. Your work will rely on a broad range of engineering disciplines, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics. You will integrate tightly with a team of experienced engineers to write and execute verification test plans and iterate on designs with data-driven analysis. You’ll be a part of a large cross-functional team bringing Energy Storage Systems from concept to release to mass manufacturing. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver our sustainable multi-day energy storage solution to the grid!

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

  • Exposure to writing, executing and analyzing test plans to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with prototyping techniques and working in a lab environment.
  • Strong heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics fundamentals.

Compensation Range: $97,221 - $127,592
