The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customersupport throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, andquality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutionsfor their most critical equipment and processes.

The Impact You'll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you design and define cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves conducting feasibility studies, performing tests, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide essential design information to shape our technology's packaging.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will directly contribute to CSBG Engineering.

• Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization, including conceptualization, design, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
• Design components using a variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Conduct detailed analyses, including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability, to properly specify designs.
• Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
• Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high quality, cost optimization, and to requirements.
• Provide key deliverables, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience; or a Master's degree with 3+ years experience; or a PhD without experience;or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem-solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $84,000.00 -$185,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
