Action Staffing Group is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter in Moonachie, NJ. You will create and update mechanical drawings, 3D models, and assembly drawings supporting engineering and manufacturing projects.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of mechanical drafting experience and is proficient with AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault. Knowledge of manufacturing processes is essential.

• Maintain and organize electronic drawing files using Autodesk Vault.
• Provide check prints and relevant documentation per project specs.
• Follow established drafting standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and other departments to support production needs.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to ensure drawings are production-ready.
• Maintain proficiency in drafting software and stay current with industry practices.

Our client in Moonachie, NJ is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join their Drafting Department. In this role, you’ll create and update mechanical drawings, 3D models, and assembly drawings that support engineering and manufacturing projects. You’ll work from sketches, markups, and existing machined or fabricated components to develop accurate drawings that meet project requirements and can be used throughout the production process.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of mechanical drafting experience, is comfortable working with AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor, and understands how manufacturing processes influence mechanical design and drawing requirements.

Pay range: $30+/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor Professional.
• Translate sketches, markups, and existing machined or fabricated components into accurate engineering drawings.
• Develop general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, and models as directed.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submitting them to engineering for review.
• Maintain and organize electronic drawing files using Autodesk Vault.
• Provide check prints, print drawings, and related documentation according to project specifications.
• Follow established departmental drafting standards, procedures, and techniques.
• Work with engineering and other departments to support project and manufacturing needs.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes to ensure drawings are practical and suitable for production.
• Maintain proficiency in drafting software and stay current with relevant technologies and industry practices.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical drafting or a related field.
• Practical experience with AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor Professional (2020 or newer), and Autodesk Vault.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a one-year drafting or design program from an accredited school preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, organized technical drawings.
