Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead design for data centre development. You will support project leadership, coordinate mechanical and electrical systems, and guide design teams through all construction phases at scale.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design and engineering leadership, with experience in mission-critical facilities and construction life cycle management. On-site work and a competitive salary are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in construction-related field.
• Minimum 8 years of project management experience in construction.
• Experience with data centre or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of the construction project life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Support and reports to the assigned Project Manager(s) or Project Director, with frequent interaction with Owner/Client, consultants, design professionals, and contractors.
• Assist the Project Manager(s) in managing, coordinating, and administering the project through all design and construction phases, emphasizing mechanical and electrical design leadership.
• Ensure all client services are delivered at the highest level, including guidance on maintainable electrical power and mechanical systems.
• Prepare documents for programming, design, and construction and maintain project information in management software.
• Coordinate scheduling of project team meetings as directed by the Project Manager(s).
• Communicate conceptual designs and maintain project documentation, including design standards and specifications.
• Maintain Basis of Design, template specifications, and design updates for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Review and inform design RFPs and scope development for mechanical engineering services.
• Manage external design consultants to deliver documents on schedule and within budget.
