Job summary

IMEG Corp. in Freeport, ME offers a Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineering Intern program. This 10-12 week internship provides hands-on design experience under experienced engineers in an in-office setting.

You will assist with mechanical-system design, equipment research, documentation, and site observations while collaborating with cross-functional teams across commercial, industrial, and educational markets.

Qualifications

• Currently at least 2 years toward BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong interest in design consulting.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Skilled in AutoCAD and BIM.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Prior internship in building design consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.
• Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.
