Job summary

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, offers an internship for Mechanical Engineering students to support design, production, and testing efforts. You will work with engineers on component layouts, weight and reliability analyses, and part selection for manufacturability.

Applicants should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and demonstrate strong communication. Prior CAD experience with CATIA or Pro-E is a plus, and internship experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering for the duration of the internship.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using CATIA, Pro-E or a similar CAD system is a plus.
• Previous internship or work-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software such as CATIA.
• Select parts based on weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Assist on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production builds and provide technical help.
• Create engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress, and performance estimates.
• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to solve problems.
• Assist in testing complete vehicles or components.
• Create and manage ECNs using the PLM system.
• Design and test new mechanical systems compatible with vehicles.
• Update BOMs in the PDM system to reflect changes.
