Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Plymouth, MN location. You will perform analysis, design, or test of materials, structural components, and functional systems in collaboration with higher graded engineers.

Responsibilities include applying theoretical knowledge to complex components, releasing design data, and coordinating test programs. The role requires 2–5 years of mechanical engineering experience or a Master’s with 0 years, plus CREO and GD&T proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; 2–5 years of direct Mechanical Engineering experience or 0 years with a Master’s degree.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize/prioritize tasks.
• Working knowledge of CAD software, preferably CREO (PTC).
• Working knowledge of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, gauging, welding, and injection molding.

Responsibilities

• Performs analysis, design, or test of moderately complex materials, structural components, and functional systems.
• With limited supervision, applies engineering concepts to more complex components and sub-assemblies.
• Responds promptly to requests and explores solutions within authority.
• Makes recommendations for improving own and group’s work.
• Develops and coordinates tests to evaluate design work.
• Documents results of analysis, test, and design activities.
