Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 3/4 to join our Launcher Hardware team. You will design concepts, create solid models, and generate engineering drawings for Navy platforms with close collaboration across departments.

The role requires CAD experience, a BS in a STEM field with 5+ years (MS with 3 years) and the ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance. Onsite four days a week, travel up to 10% may be needed, with generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years relevant work experience.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule.
• US citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models that reflect those concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements.
• Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
