Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer onsite in Berkeley, CA. You will create and refine 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases for aerospace/medical device projects, while pursuing cost reductions and maintaining critical interfaces.

The role requires hands-on SolidWorks experience and strong GD&T and DFMEA knowledge. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive design from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 2+ years (junior) or 4+ years (mid-level) mechanical design experience.
• Experience from concept to production release and support.
• SolidWorks design and production-released examples required.
• Strong GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and releases.
• Develop cost-reduction concepts while meeting interfaces.
• Assess packaging, tolerance, form, fit, manufacturability.
• Support design reviews, supplier coordination, and validation planning.
• Resolve nonconformities through root-cause analysis.
