Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs and engineering releases for complex products across aerospace, medical devices and automotive markets.

The role emphasizes cost reduction while preserving interfaces, requires hands-on SolidWorks design, tolerance analyses (DFM/DFMEA, GD&T), and will involve packaging reviews, root-cause problem solving, design revisions, and active participation in design reviews

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 2+ years (junior) or 4+ years (mid-level) mechanical design experience.
• Experience from concept through production support with GD&T and DFMEA.

Mechanical Design Engineer

ONSITE in Berkeley, CA

Domain-Specific Skills

• SolidWorks part, assembly, drawing, and configuration development.
• Mechanical component redesign for lower material, tooling, fabrication, and assembly cost.
• Sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, piping/fittings, plastics, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups.
• Working knowledge of DFM, GD&T, DFMEA, problem solving, and design validation.

Required Skills / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
• Hands-on SolidWorks experience is required; provide examples of production-released designs.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
