Job summary

Crane Company in Twinsburg, OH seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for nuclear onsite work. You will join a cross-functional engineering team to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear line, delivering designs that meet stringent specifications and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes DFSS/DFM rigor, collaboration with Product Line Leaders and manufacturing, and robust verification through testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in design engineering, preferably sensors design.
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP a plus).
  • Familiarity with product development processes (Stage-Gate preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear line.
  • Develop or review detailed component and system designs to meet specs.
  • Ensure designs are analytically robust and empirically tested.
  • Apply DFSS and DFM rigor throughout the design process.
  • Coordinate multiple project tasks with PMs and managers.
  • Work with Product Line Leader, Quality, Manufacturing to meet requirements end-to-end.
  • Foster a creative environment while pursuing speed and excellence.
  • Support technical discussions with customers as needed.

Job description

Crane Nuclear has an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer, Nuclear onsite in our Twinsburg, OH location.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working with a cross-functional engineering team to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear product line, either as improvements to existing designs or as part of new product development.
  • Developing and/or reviewing detailed component and system designs to meet new product specifications
  • Ensuring component and system designs are analytically robust, and empirically tested and verified
  • Ensuring that proper DFSS and DFM rigor has been applied throughout the design process, in collaboration with other Technology team members and other functions
  • Coordinating multiple project tasks with project managers and functional managers.
  • Working directly with the respective Product Line Leader, Quality, Manufacturing, and other Functional Teams to ensure products meet internal and external requirements, start to finish, and provide for continued growth of the product line.
  • Fostering a creative environment; allowing for new ideas while embracing speed and excellence.
  • Leveraging, expanding, and creating design best practices
  • Supporting technical discussions with customers as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
  • 2-3 years' experience in Design Engineering experience (Sensors Design preferred) desired.
  • Experience with New Product Design is plus
  • Experience with a CAD package (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience with an ERP system such as SAP is a plus
  • Experience with product development processes (Stage-Gate is preferred) product development process
  • Desired skills: Problem solving, translation of cross-functional inputs into design outputs, design for regulatory compliance and product safety, requirements decomposition, technical report authorship
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree or more in Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
  • Professional certifications held or in progress are a plus (FE, EIT, PE, or other).
