Job summary

EnerSys in Warrensburg, MO seeks a design engineer to create and prototype industrial electronic enclosures for harsh environments, delivering innovative concepts and practical tooling.

You will lead tooling fabrication, installation, integration, and testing, while applying Lean, 5S, and Kaizen to improve processes and manage multiple projects. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years design experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tool and die practices.
• Understanding of manufacturing workflow and planning.
• Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to present technical information internally and to customers.
• Finite Element Analysis preferred.
• 3D-CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee fabrication of production tooling for company products.
• Direct installation, integration, and testing of mechanical/electronic equipment.
• Debug and improve current and new processes.
• Lead Lean, 5S, and Kaizen projects to improve manufacturing.
• Create project plans, manage budgets, and coordinate resources.
• Develop and implement process improvements.
• Research, design, procure, test, and monitor new systems and equipment.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Create and maintain drawings and BOMs.
• Support outsourced component designs and quotations.
