We’re partnering with a specialist engineering organization developing advanced equipment for the power and energy sector. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of highly ruggedized outdoor enclosures protecting critical power systems and infrastructure.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer who understands environmental durability, structural integrity, and designing for extreme operating conditions.
The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design of outdoor rated enclosures and structural assemblies that protect sensitive electrical and electronic systems from shock, vibration, dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
You’ll collaborate closely with Electrical and Controls Engineering teams to ensure mechanical solutions integrate seamlessly while meeting strict industry and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop rugged outdoor enclosures for power and energy systems
- Engineer solutions for thermal management, sealing (IP/NEMA), and environmental protection
- Perform structural analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection
- Design for corrosion resistance and long‑term outdoor field deployment
- Support prototype builds, environmental testing, and product validation
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry and environmental standards
- Drive DFM/DFA principles to support scalable production
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design within power, energy, industrial, or ruggedized electronic systems
- Proven experience designing outdoor or environmentally sealed enclosures
- Strong knowledge of thermal management, gasketing, coatings, and corrosion mitigation
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
Why This Role?
- High ownership and visibility across the full product lifecycle
- Collaborative engineering environment with strong technical leadership
- Competitive compensation and long-term growth potential
