Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Falcon Mechanical Design Engineer to lead structural and fluid systems design for the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy programs. You will work on hardware from concept through reuse, using hand calculations, FEA, and CAD tools, and you will lead design reviews while interfacing with suppliers and customers.

The role demands strong analytical skills, a proactive, collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where ideas shape the company’s direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of CAD or FEA experience (professional/academic/hobby).
• 1+ years of hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly and/or testing.

Responsibilities

• Own primary and secondary structures, mechanisms, and/or fluid systems for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.
• Use hand calculations, FEA, and CAD to meet requirements.
• Lead design reviews and hardware qualifications.
• Interface with suppliers and customers.
• Own hardware delivery timeline through inception, design, assembly, launch and reuse.
