Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Dragon Mechanical Engineer to design and develop critical spacecraft systems for crew and cargo missions, driving from early design through production and recovery. You will perform hand calculations, FEA, and CAD analyses, and lead design reviews with internal teams and external suppliers to meet schedule goals.

The role requires a strong engineering background, hands-on component development experience, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or physics
  • 1+ years experience with CAD and FEA software packages
  • 1+ years hands-on experience driving the design and development of mechanical components or systems
  • Master's degree in engineering is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of mechanical spacecraft systems
  • Perform analysis on designs including hand calculations, FEA, and CAD
  • Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and customers
  • Be responsible for project delivery timeline from early design through production, launch, and recovery
  • Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work
